Jalandhar: Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and city Mayor Vineet Dhir on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a new sewerage project worth ₹4.2 million (approximately $4.2 million) in Major Colony and Dashmesh Colony, Ward No. 40. The project aims to provide a permanent solution to the sewerage problems faced by the residents of these areas. Bhagat reiterated that there is no shortage of funds for development projects and assured that more projects related to sewerage, roads, and water supply will be initiated across the city in the coming days. Mayor Vineet Dhir emphasized that strict instructions have already been issued to officials to adhere to the set timeline and maintain high standards in project work.
Meanwhile, Jalandhar Central constituency in-charge Nitin Kohli announced a long-awaited road improvement plan for Surya Enclave. Due to Kohli’s efforts, the colony was transferred from the Jalandhar Improvement Trust to the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation. Road construction work is now underway in the colony at a cost of ₹5.10 crore (approximately $5.10 million). This move is considered a major step toward creating safe, accessible, and modern road infrastructure in the area. Under the approved plan, the main road near Kendriya Sadan in Surya Enclave will be strengthened using advanced road construction technology. Additionally, repair and renovation work will also be carried out on the inner lanes of Surya Enclave.
