Jalandhar: Man who attacked police arrested

Phagwara: Police have arrested a villager from Shahkot for attacking police officials. The accused has been identified as Kamal Preet Singh of Gehlran village. ASI Sarabjit Singh said in his statement that he was manning a naka with his staff when a car came from the naka side. He signalled the driver to stop but the accused tried to hit him. He saved himself and the car collided with the barricade. Sarabjit said that his staff overpowered the accused and seized his license and issued a challan under the Motor Vehicles Act. The ASI said that the accused then took out a sword from his car and started threatening them. A case has been registered against the accused.

Case registered against NRI for attempt to murder

Phagwara: Shahkot police have registered a case against five people including an NRI for attempt to murder and firing. The accused have been identified as Sukhvir Singh, resident of village Jamsher who is currently living in the US, Roth Masih, resident of village Chumo, Vinay Tiwari, resident of Basti Sheikh, Shivam, resident of Mota Singh Nagar and Manish Kumar, resident of Mithapur, Jalandhar. Raj Kumar, resident of village Kangna, told the police in his complaint that the accused reached in front of his house late night on January 3 and fired at him with the intention of killing him, abused him and threatened him with dire consequences.

Waqf Board land fraud, case against 1

Hoshiarpur: Police have registered a case naming an accused for cheating of Rs 1.32 lakh in the name of getting Waqf Board land. Pawandeep Singh, resident of village Patti, had given a complaint to the District Police Chief. He said that Vijay Kumar, resident of Akash Colony, Ravidas Nagar, has cheated him of Rs 1,32,000 in the name of getting Waqf Board land. On the orders of SSP, SP (H) Manoj Kumar investigated the complaint. After the investigation report came, the police registered a case and started further action.

Case registered against 3 for illegal mining

Phagwara: Shahkot police have registered a case against three people for illegal sand mining. The accused have been identified as Sukhraj, Jeeta and Soni. Block Mining Officer Moga complained to the police that the accused were involved in illegal sand mining near Chak Bahmania village and three tractor trolleys filled with sand have been seized. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 21 of Punjab Mining Act and BNS.

One person arrested with illegal liquor

Phagwara: Lohian Khas police have arrested a person for selling illegal liquor. 30 bottles of illegal liquor were recovered from the possession of accused Gurpreet Singh resident Ismailpur village. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 61/1/14 of the Excise Act.
