Jalandhar: Man arrested for selling banned poppy husk

Phagwara: Bilga police have arrested a villager for selling banned Chinese string. The accused has been identified as Parminder Singh alias Pinka, a resident of Mao Sahib village. The police were patrolling and reached Mao Sahib village and saw a man selling kites and string in front of Harsh Kirana Store. Police arrested him and seized 12 spools of banned string from him. The accused was released on bail after registering a case under section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of BNS, as the offence is bailable.

Man arrested for stealing bike

Phagwara: Mehatpur police have arrested a man and registered a case against another for stealing garlic sacks and motorcycle. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh alias Soni, a resident of Raipur Ariyan village. Surjit Singh of Raipur Gujran village complained to the police that the accused broke into his house on November 7, 2024 and stole his motorcycle and two sacks of garlic lying nearby. A case has been registered against the accused and his accomplice Buta Singh.

Computers, parts stolen

Phagwara: Police have arrested a miscreant for stealing computers and parts from a village society. The accused has been identified as Bakshish Singh of Singhpur village. Jugraj Singh complained to the police that the accused stole two computers, two LCDs, a UPC keyboard and a mouse from the village society on the night of January 9. A case has been registered.

29 booked for assault, theft

Phagwara: Nakodar police have booked 29 people for assault, criminal intimidation, house breaking and theft. The identified accused are residents of Uggi village. 20 unidentified accomplices are also involved in the case. Kuldeep Sabharwal of Rahimpur village told the police in a complaint that the accused vandalised his welding shop with a crane on January 12, assaulted him, abused him, stole Rs 70,000, CCTV cameras and DVR from the shop.

Youth arrested on charges of kidnapping
Nakodar: Mehatpur police have arrested a youth on charges of kidnapping a minor girl. The accused has been identified as Rajiv Kumar alias Kulu, a resident of Sangowal village. Raju of the same village told the police in a complaint that the accused kidnapped his minor daughter on November 21 on the pretext of marriage. A case has been registered against the accused.
Three arrested for betting
Hoshiarpur: Police have arrested three accused on charges of betting and recovered cash worth Rs 6,610 and betting slips from them. The accused have been identified as Ram Ratan Sahni, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Manoj Kumar, a resident of Sundar Nagar and Pawan Kumar, a resident of Mithewal.
