Jalandhar: The difficulty of the Physics paper in the recent ICSE Class 10 exam results has caused concern among both students and teachers. Students reported that the questions in the paper were more complex and analytical than expected, resulting in lower scores for many students. Teachers at several schools and coaching institutes in Jalandhar believe that this year’s Physics paper was “unusually difficult.” Teachers say the paper contained problems that required in-depth understanding and time management. Many students left their answers incomplete during the exam due to time constraints and difficult questions.
One student said, “The Physics questions were significantly more difficult this year than in previous years’ papers. Some required more time and thought to answer. I scored lower than I expected.” Teachers say that this difficulty in Physics is not limited to Jalandhar or Punjab, but could affect ICSE Class 10 students across India. He suggested that students should focus not only on practice but also on understanding and analytical skills when preparing for the exam. The school administration also acknowledged the difficulty of the paper and stated that students need mental support and strategies for upcoming exams. They also stated that retraining and extra classes will be arranged for students who scored relatively low.
Experts say that this difficult Physics exam has made it clear that success can be difficult for students who simply memorize. Real understanding and grasp of concepts are essential. They appealed to parents to keep their children’s morale high and provide them with a stress-free environment. Both students and teachers in Jalandhar agree that this level of difficulty will motivate them to better prepare for future exams. They said that this challenge tests students’ problem-solving abilities, time management, and grasp of concepts. However, some students and parents are expecting the ICSE board to maintain a balance between the difficulty and difficulty level of the papers in future so that the performance of the students is not affected much.
