Jalandhar: Locals in Dallewal village on the Garhshankar-Nangal Road stopped a tipper truck that had allegedly hit a car and fled the scene. The incident occurred near Adda Jhungian, where the tipper truck allegedly hit a car and tried to flee. Villagers stopped the vehicle and held it until late evening. Following the incident, residents also stopped several overloaded tipper trucks plying on the Nangal-Garhshankar Road, despite the Deputy Commissioner’s existing orders against overloading. Police officers arrived at the scene and subsequently issued challans to six tipper trucks for violating the rules.
According to reports, the tipper truck hit Akash’s car from Majri village, after which the driver fled with the vehicle. Leaders from several political parties also arrived at the scene. Congress constituency in-charge Amarpreet Singh Lali and CPI(M) leader Comrade Darshan Singh Mattoo alleged that tipper operators were openly violating the Deputy Commissioner’s orders, while the police and administration failed to take strict action. He stated that overloaded vehicles are frequently causing road accidents. He further stated that just a day earlier, former Sarpanch Chuhar Singh was crushed to death by a tipper truck. It is noteworthy that the same company whose tipper allegedly crushed the former Sarpanch last night was involved in today’s collision.
