Jalandhar: Fraud of Rs 28.7 lakh, case registered against two

Hoshiarpur: Police have registered a case of cheating against two persons for duping a couple of Rs 28.70 lakh in the name of sending them to Canada. Jaswinder Kumar, a resident of Rahimpur, told police that travel agent Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha, a resident of New Fatehgarh, and Shiv Sharma, a resident of Model Colony, had duped him and his wife Neenu Atwal in the name of sending them to Canada.

Foetus found abandoned

Jalandhar: A foetus was found abandoned near Basti Bawa Khel canal on Sunday afternoon. Police sent the foetus to Jalandhar Civil Hospital for medical examination. Police are checking CCTV footage installed in the area for possible clues. They are also questioning residents and passersby to find out if anyone noticed any suspicious activity near the spot. The foetus was dumped under the canal bridge, police said. “After receiving the information, we immediately reached the spot,” police said. Two killed in road accidents
Hoshiarpur: Two people died in road accidents in the area. Amandeep Singh, a resident of Chagran village, told Sadar police that Roop Lal (65), a resident of his village, worked as a security guard in a private company. He said that when Roop Lal was going to work, a truck hit him near Shergarh bypass, due to which he died on the spot. Police have registered a case and started further action. Meanwhile, Ravinder Singh, a resident of Sibochak village, told Talwara police that his brother Satnam Singh worked as an ASI in Punjab Police. He said that when he was on patrol, a bike rider hit him.
