Dr Kuldeep Singh Mehrok, owner of Mehrok College of Nursing and Medical Sciences, Taipur, Pattran, Patiala district, has also been arrested. Both were involved in committing irregularities in admissions and examinations in nursing colleges in connivance with the officials and employees of Punjab Nursing Registration Council (PNRC), Mohali and evading arrest. Charanjit Kaur Cheema, former Registrar of PNRC and Principal (Retd) of Nursing Training School, Gurdaspur and Dr Arvindervir Singh Gill, resident of Basant Vihar, Hoshiarpur have already been arrested. The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation of the complaint received regarding irregularities in admissions, examinations and results in private nursing colleges, it has come to light that PNRC officials, in connivance with the managers of private nursing colleges, have tampered with the government records and conducted examinations of nursing students without admission forms, examination forms and required examination fees. He further said that during the investigation it was found that KD College of Nursing, Mahilpur was recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi on September 25, 2019 and by PNRC on November 29, 2012. Admission forms and receipt numbers were found to have been issued by PNRC even before this college got recognition.
He said that admission forms related to five roll numbers were received from this college, but these admission forms/roll numbers were issued by the Nursing Council to Princeton Institute of Nursing, Gurdaspur. The fake admission list of these students was prepared in October 2012 much before the college got recognition and on the basis of this admission list, the cutoff list of roll numbers was issued after receiving the examination form and fees. Apart from this, the admission list of 27 students belonging to GRD International Institute of Nursing, Tanda Urmur, Hoshiarpur was prepared by PNRC and uploaded on the website. In the revised list of 30 students of this college, admissions on two roll numbers were shown through KD College of Nursing, Mahilpur.
