Jalandhar: The Central Jail administration has recovered narcotics from a prisoner who returned from parole. After receiving a complaint in this regard, the police have registered a case. Assistant Superintendent Sukhdev Singh posted in the Central Jail said that Harjinder Singh resident Pansara was sentenced to 10 years in a drug smuggling case. He said that when Sukhdev returned after eight weeks of parole, the jail staff searched him. During this, a khaki colored envelope was found from him, in which 1.90 grams of ganja and 26 narcotic pills were recovered. The police have registered a case and started further action.
2 more fugitives in the clutches of police
Phagwara: Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested two wanted criminals. The arrests were made under the supervision of SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh. The accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh alias Baljinder resident of village Bangiwal Khurd, Mehatpur and Sukha Singh resident of village Pakhowal, Kapurthala. SSP Khakh said these arrests are a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against criminals in the area.
Mobile phone snatched, 1 arrested
Phagwara: Police have arrested a ‘snatcher’ who was fleeing after snatching a mobile phone from a B-Tech student of Lovely Professional University, Phagwara. The victim Ajay Yadav, who currently lives in Hardaspur village near Phagwara, was returning home after attending classes at the university when two motorcycle-borne men snatched his mobile and fled. As soon as police got information, they acted swiftly and nabbed one snatcher Abhishek of Jalandhar. His other accomplice managed to escape.
Woman’s gold chain snatched
Phagwara: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a 15-gram gold chain from a woman in Urban Estate area of Phagwara on Tuesday. The victim Chetna was returning from Swami Sant Das Public School with her children when the snatchers snatched her chain and fled. Police have registered a case.
Theft in village
Phagwara: A villager named Honey’s house was burgled on Tuesday night in village Nangal near Goraya. Unknown thieves broke into the house by breaking the locks and ransacked the rooms and stole cash worth thousands of rupees and gold jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh from the house. The family members were out of the house at the time of the theft. Police have registered a case.
Two arrested for smuggling
Hoshiarpur: Police arrested two accused after conducting raids in the area and recovered huge quantity of narcotic capsules from them. The accused have been identified as Tanveer Singh alias Dhanna and Mohan Lal, residents of Davida Ahirana.
