Nakodar: Mehatpur police have registered a case against two farmers for burning paddy stubble. Investigation Officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said that the suspects have been identified as Piara Singh of Gaunsuwal village and Ranjit Singh of Singhpur Bet village. He said that the police had received information about burning of paddy stubble in Gaunsuwal and Singhpur villages. Circle Revenue Patwaris confirmed the names of the suspects. The IO said that a case has been registered against the suspects. IO Balbir Chand said that in the third incident, police have registered a case against Swarn Singh of Bahmania village for burning crop residue in the fields.
One person arrested under NDPS Act
Nurmahal: Police have arrested a person for selling narcotic pills. Investigation Officer (IO) Jaswinder Pal said that the suspect has been identified as Inder Jeet Singh, a resident of Tagar village. The investigating officer said that a case has been registered against the suspect under sections 22, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Man arrested for stealing goods
Nurmahal: Police have arrested a man for stealing goods from a house. Investigating officer (IO) Resham Singh said that the suspect has been identified as Deepak Kumar alias Deepu, a resident of Rajowal village. Raj Kumar’s wife Kiran, a resident of the same village, complained to the police that the suspect had stolen household goods from her house on October 28. The investigating officer said that a case has been registered against the suspect under section 305 of the BNS and stolen goods have been recovered from his possession.
Three snatchers arrested
Nakodar: Nakodar Sadar police have arrested three miscreants for snatching the mobile phone of a migrant. SHO Baljinder Singh and Investigating Officer (IO) Rajinder Kumar said the suspects have been identified as Sunni and Gurpreet Singh of Chuhar village and Gurwinder Singh of Harike village in Tarn Taran. Raman Mehta, a resident of Bihar who is currently staying in Chuhar village, complained to the police that on the night of November 3, he was standing near his house when three miscreants snatched his mobile phone. The IO said a case has been registered against the suspects under Sections 304 (2) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code and the mobile phone has been snatched from them.
Bike riders snatch woman’s chain
Phagwara: Two unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched a gold chain from a woman in Chahal Nagar on Thursday morning. Later, the two snatchers made an unsuccessful attempt to snatch the gold chain from former GM of JCT Ashwani Thapar, but he foiled their attempt and the miscreants managed to escape from the spot. Both the snatching incidents were reported to the police.
