Jalandhar: Balwant Singh Kapoor Hockey Tournament

Jalandhar: Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali emerged as the champions of the 19th Sardar Balwant Singh Kapoor Memorial Hockey Tournament Under-19 boys’ category, defeating Surjit Hockey Academy 6-5 in a shootout in the final match played on Sunday. Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuria AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Vajra Corps, was the chief guest on the occasion. He felicitated the players and praised the organizers, stating that a high-quality tournament was being provided to the players under the aegis of Hockey India. Players from both teams gave their best to win. In the final match, Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali defeated Surjit Hockey Academy Jalandhar 6-5. The score was tied at 3-3 at the end of regulation time. Round Glass then won the match 6-5 in the shootout.
Earlier, in the match for third place, Odisha Naval Tata High Performance Centre Bhubaneswar defeated Naval Tata Hockey Academy Jamshedpur 4-3 to secure third place. The Player of the Match was Rayavarapu Ganesh from the Odisha team. The winning Round Glass Hockey Academy Mohali team was awarded the championship trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1.50 lakh. Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, the runner-up, received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while the third-placed Odisha Naval Tata High Performance Centre Bhubaneswar received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 80,000, and the fourth-placed Naval Tata Hockey Academy Jamshedpur received a cash prize of Rs 60,000. The best players of the championship were awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each.
