Jalandhar: The body of a 27-year-old man was found lying by the roadside near Nawan Pind Bhatte in Kapurthala on Saturday. However, confusion over jurisdiction between the City Police Station and Kotwali Police Station led to a slight delay in taking action and removing the body. The deceased was identified as Ajit Singh, a resident of Villakothi village in Phagwara. Later, the City Police took charge of the case and shifted the body to Kapurthala Civil Hospital.
Investigating officer Harjit Singh said that the deceased worked at a service station. He added that Ajit Singh’s father was in the Home Guard and was posted at the Police Lines. Police said that further action would be taken after recording the statements of the deceased’s family members. The investigating officer said that the exact cause of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem examination, and the report would be available soon.
