Jalandhar: A free vaccination camp for dogs will be organized on March 17.

Jalandhar: Under an initiative launched with the objective of safeguarding the health of both animals and humans, the Department of Animal Husbandry will organize a free anti-rabies vaccination camp for dogs on March 17 at the District Veterinary Polyclinic in Kapurthala. This camp will be conducted in collaboration with the ‘Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (SPCA) and will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Providing detailed information regarding the camp, Dr. Ude Singh Khinda, In-charge of the Veterinary Polyclinic, stated that this vaccination drive will be inaugurated by Dr. M.P. Singh, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry. The primary objective of this initiative is to protect both pet and stray dogs from rabies. Rabies is a fatal viral disease that poses a serious threat to human life as well.
Dr. Khinda emphasized that rabies remains a major public health concern to this day, and vaccinating dogs is the most effective method to prevent its spread. Through this camp, the department aims to ensure that the maximum number of dogs in the city receive timely vaccination, thereby mitigating the risk of rabies transmission. He also appealed to the residents of Kapurthala to bring their pet dogs to the camp for free vaccination and to actively participate in this campaign. Additionally, efforts will be made to vaccinate stray and abandoned dogs as well, in order to ensure the safety of the entire community and to promote animal welfare.
