Jalandhar: A fire broke out in a rice mill, burning hundreds of sacks of paddy.

Jalandhar: A massive fire broke out at a rice mill on Sultanpur Lodhi Road, causing extensive damage and resulting in losses worth millions of rupees. The fire started in the mill’s paddy drying unit and quickly spread to the nearby stock, burning approximately 800 sacks of paddy to ashes. The incident occurred at the rice mill owned by Prakash Chand Karorimal. The fire originated in the dryer and spread rapidly, giving the workers little time to control the situation. As the fire intensified, it engulfed the sacks of paddy stored near the drying unit, further increasing the damage.
The fire brigade was informed, and a rescue and firefighting operation was launched. Two fire tenders were deployed, and after approximately three hours of effort, the fire was brought under control. There were no reports of any casualties or injuries in the incident. However, the mill owner stated that the burning of such a large quantity of paddy resulted in a significant financial loss amounting to millions of rupees. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Fire brigade officials have stated that an investigation will be conducted to ascertain whether the fire was caused by a technical malfunction in the dryer, overheating, or any other reason.
