Jalandhar: Sultanpur Lodhi police have registered a case against a local man on the complaint of a woman from the same area, alleging harassment, criminal intimidation, and abetment to suicide. According to the police, the complainant, a resident of Kamalpur village under Sultanpur Lodhi police station, who currently lives in Gazipur Colony near Baba Seechewal Kutiya, stated that her husband lives abroad, leaving her alone at home. She alleged that during this time, her neighbor, Bawa Singh, also a resident of Gazipur Colony, had been making unwanted advances and repeatedly engaging in inappropriate behavior.
In her statement, she alleged that on December 24, 2025, at around 7 PM, when she was alone at home, the accused entered her house and began making unwanted advances. When she resisted and objected, the accused allegedly threatened and attempted to blackmail her, causing her immense mental distress. The complainant further stated that the continuous harassment and threats left her traumatized and under extreme pressure, following which she allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison. She was later provided medical assistance, and the incident was reported to the police. After examining the complaint and initial evidence, the police registered a formal case against the accused and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
