Jalandhar: 385 students from 15 schools showcased their talent in a music competition.

Jalandhar: Hoshiarpur city came alive with spectacular displays of art and culture as the 18th Inter-District Music Competition, organized by the Satyug Darshan Sangeet Kala Kendra, took place at the DAV College Auditorium. The event was a memorable celebration of young talent, with 385 students from 15 renowned schools participating in singing, solo and group dances, rangoli, and street plays. The program began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, after which the auditorium reverberated with the students’ energetic dance performances and melodious singing. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa said, “Music is an eternal language that connects people and creates harmony in society.” He added, “Cultural events like these play a vital role in instilling confidence, teamwork, leadership, and a sense of pride in the youth. Encouraging young talent is a shared responsibility of society and the government.” Mayor Surinder Kumar and Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh’s representative, Pradeep Saini, were present as special guests. The panel of judges included academicians Professor Neeta Mishra, Professor Tarun Pal Singh, and Professor Neetu Mehra, who evaluated the performances in an expert and impartial manner. Center in-charge Meena Sikka warmly welcomed all guests and congratulated the students and schools for their enthusiastic participation. Event coordinator and center principal Deependrakant said that the purpose of this competition was to connect students with Indian art traditions and instill in them a sense of discipline, cultural awareness, and human values. Program organizing head Ravinder Sachdeva explained that this competition is being held free of charge in eight districts. Round 1 events will conclude on November 28th, followed by the semi-finals on November 29th at the Red Cross Building. The grand finale will take place on December 2nd at DAVIET College, Kabir Nagar, Jalandhar, where winners will receive cash prizes of ₹5,100, ₹3,100, and ₹2,100, along with memorabilia. The event was hosted by Nisha Sikka and Hemu Thukral. The program concluded with vote of thanks from Rajiv and Yatin.
