Jalandhar: 35 challans issued, 5 vehicles seized in action against underage driving

Jalandhar: Continuing its efforts against minor driving, the Commissionerate Police today carried out a special drive with a team under the supervision of Inspector Rashminder Singh, Incharge, ERS, CP Jalandhar in the prime areas of the city, particularly near Heat 7 Restaurant and on the road leading from APJ College towards Model Town. The location was strategically chosen due to its high traffic volume and known cases of violation of driving rules by minors. During the drive, 35 traffic violations were recorded, leading to challans being issued to the offenders. Besides, the police seized five vehicles. The drive was aimed not only at penalizing the offenders but also at sending a strong message about the dangers and legal repercussions of driving by minors.

“The police initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to curb road-related crimes and raise awareness among young drivers and their families about violation of driving rules by minors. Police officials said that by conducting these targeted drives, the Commissionerate Police wants to prevent minors from driving and encourage safe behaviour on the roads. To further promote road safety, the Commissionerate Police appealed to parents to ensure that their children adhere to the legal driving age requirements and refrain from driving until they obtain a valid driving licence from the competent authorities.
