Jalandhar: 3 people arrested for snatching e-vehicle at knife point

Jalandhar: Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner Swapan Sharma has arrested three persons associated with a snatching gang active in the city. Police have recovered an e-rickshaw and a knife used in the crime from their possession. According to police officials, the action was taken based on a complaint lodged by Rinku, a resident of Mohalla Kabir Nagar on October 2, in which he reported an incident involving his e-rickshaw. In his complaint to the police, Rinku said that he was approached by three youths at Ghazi Gulla Chowk who sought a ride to Nagra Phatak and promised to pay extra for the trip. On reaching Nagra Phatak, the suspects insisted on being taken to Maqsudan Chowk where they forcibly took Rinku to Maqsudan bridge at around 1:30 am. There they threatened him with a knife and forcibly snatched his e-rickshaw and fled from the spot. Acting on his complaint, the police immediately started investigating the case by registering an FIR under Sections 309(4), 3(5) BNS at Thana Division No. 1. After investigation, police teams have identified the suspects as Vimal Gulati, resident of Krishna Nagar Basti Bawa Khel, Gaurav alias Chintu and Saurav alias Tinku, residents of Basti Nine Side area. Swapan Sharma confirmed their arrest along with recovery of the stolen e-rickshaw and the knife used in the crime. He said Vimal has a criminal case registered against him, while Gaurav and Saurav have no previous criminal record. The commissioner said the investigation is on and more details about their involvement in other such incidents will be shared as the investigation progresses.
