Kerala: A student who went to take a bath in the Irikkur river with his friends drowned in the water currents. The deceased was Mohammed Shameel (15), son of Aurangajeeb and Rasheeda, a resident of Shameel Manzil, Irikkur Ayipuzha.
He is a Class IX student at Irikkur Govt. HSS. The Class IX students were given leave as Class X students were taking exams. The accident occurred when he and his friends went swimming in the Ayipuzha area.
Shameel, who was swept away by the water currents, was rescued by fishermen and locals from Karnataka and brought to the shore, but he died. The body was shifted to the morgue of Pariyaram Medical College, Kannur.
