Iran’s farmed caviar exports rise 112% in 9-month period

TEHRAN Tehran: An official of the Iranian Fisheries Organization said that the country’s farmed caviar exports registered a 112 percent increase in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 21, 2024). Nasser Karamirad, Director General of Stock Promotion and Conservation of Aquatic Genetic Resources of the Iranian Fisheries Organization, said that 5.346 tons of farmed caviar worth $3.2 million were exported to 28 countries between March 21 and December 22, 2024, showing a 112 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

Karamirad said that farmed caviar product was exported from Iran to other countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Belgium, in that period. He further said that 4.784 tons of farmed caviar was exported abroad from the country in the previous year (ending March 20, 2024). Karamirad reported the number of units set up for farmed caviar in the country in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 to September 21, 2024) as 304. He said Gilan, Mazandaran and Fars provinces are the country’s leading provinces in the field of farmed caviar production.
