Iran rejects US claims about Tehran-Moscow space cooperation

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani rejected US officials’ claims about Tehran’s space cooperation with Moscow as baseless. Kanani was reacting to the claims of US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller. Miller cited Russia’s recent launch of an Iranian satellite as another example of growing military cooperation between the two countries. He called this a threat to Ukraine, Iran’s neighbors and the international community.
Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said defense and military cooperation between Iran and Russia is based on the common interests of the two countries under international laws and regulations, Xinhua news agency reported. Kanani stressed, “Cooperation is the right of both countries under international rules and laws. We reject the baseless claims of US officials.” He said that our cooperation with Russia is not against any third party. It is noteworthy that Iran on Thursday launched its satellite named Pars-1 into space through a Russian Soyuz rocket launch in eastern Russia.
