Ahmedabad (IANS)| Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has heaped praise on opener Rituraj Gaikwad, saying he is a brilliant talent and hence the team think tank holds him up high.
Gaikwad scored a brilliant 92 off 50 balls against defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He completed his half-century in 23 balls. He hit nine sixes in his innings.
Smith said at the post-match press conference, “He (Rituraj) is an amazing talent. We hold him to a high standard and we believe he is a class player. He has power, he has touch and he is good with him.” Things will happen.”
Despite Gaikwad’s brilliant effort, Chennai could only manage 178 runs and Gujarat won with five wickets to spare.
Fleming said, “We could not take advantage of his brilliant innings. He bowled well from the 12th to the 16th over and we could not make the final push at the end. But 180 was a good score. Overall I like positivity and aggression and anyone Other days we could make 200.”
Gaikwad also received praise from Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik said, “The way he was batting, it looked like Chennai would score 220-230. We were finding it difficult to bowl to Gaikwad as he is an all-round cricketer and plays cricketing shots.”
