New Delhi (IANS) | Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a major blow on Tuesday when Rajat Patidar was ruled out of IPL 2023 due to a heel injury.
Rajat did not participate in the first match of Bengaluru. RCB were hoping that the 29-year-old batsman would be available to play sometime this season but he has now been ruled out of the tournament.
The franchise has currently decided not to announce any player in his place. Anuj Rawat, Suyyash Prabhudesai and Mahipal Lomror are some of the Indian players who can replace him in the team.
“Rajat Patidar will no longer be able to participate in IPL 2023. RCB wishes Rajat Patidar a speedy recovery and will continue to support him through this process,” Bengaluru said in a statement.
Notably, Patidar was not bought in last year’s mega auction and came into the team midway through the season after wicketkeeper Lavneet Sisodia suffered an injury. He was Bengaluru’s third top scorer behind Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli with 333 runs at a strike rate of 152.75.
RCB will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their next match on April 6.
