Tamil Nadu: Police have intensified their investigation into the alleged vote-changing offers and threats to MLAs. A new twist has emerged in the case, with police conducting intensive interrogations of the driver of YouTuber and pollster Thirunavukkarasu. Driver Krishnan, who was previously detained, is now being continuously interrogated at a secret location. Police suspect he may also have a role in the entire network.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Thaveka MLA Ilaiyaraaja from Uthankarai in Krishnagiri district, alleging that a gang approached him to vote in favor of a no-confidence motion against the Speaker in the Assembly. It is alleged that he was offered ₹35 crore (350 million rupees). It was also alleged that he was threatened with dire consequences if he disclosed the matter.
Based on MLA Ilaiyaraaja’s complaint, Thiruvallikeni police registered a case in this matter. During the investigation, police arrested YouTuber and pollster Thirunavukkarasu from the Arumbakkam area of Chennai. Naresh, Thiyarajan, and several others were also detained. Furthermore, DMK leaders Karthi, Adhipan Ramesh, and Rajesh, and AIADMK leaders Srinivasan and Selvan, along with others from Karur district, have also been arrested.
According to police officials, the role of various political and non-political individuals in this entire network is being investigated. Preliminary investigations have revealed that this may be an organized effort to influence MLAs and alter the voting process in the Assembly.
Meanwhile, police are now questioning Thirunavukkarasu’s driver, Krishnan, who is said to be from Madurai. Police suspect he may be involved in this matter at some level or may possess important information. For this reason, he is being kept in a safe place and is being continuously interrogated so that the links in the case can be connected.
The investigation team says that many more names may emerge in this case, as initial evidence suggests that this case is not limited to just a few individuals, but rather a larger network may be involved. Police are also trying to determine who exactly was involved in the alleged offer of 35 crore rupees and what its purpose was.
Currently, all the arrested accused are being interrogated individually, and electronic evidence is also being examined. Police say that more revelations in this case may be made in the coming days.
