Interstate arms supplier arrested in Delhi, 10 pistols recovered

New Delhi (IANS) | Police have arrested a 23-year-old interstate arms smuggler for allegedly supplying illegal weapons to criminals in Delhi and neighboring areas. 10 pistols have been recovered from the possession of the accused. A Delhi Police officer gave this information on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Shivam Prajapati, a resident of Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. Special Cell DCP Rajeev Ranjan Singh said that illegal arms smuggler Shivam had bought arms from Amit Yadav, a resident of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh and was on his way to Delhi to deliver the arms consignment to someone else.

The DCP further said that on May 6, at around 6 pm, a trap was laid near Sundial Park under the Barapullah flyover and Shivam was apprehended. On search, 10 pistols of .32 bore were recovered from the possession of the accused and a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the Arms Act.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Shivam came in contact with Amit, an arms supplier, through one of his relatives and started working for him to earn easy money.

Amit has been supplying illegal arms for a long time and has several cases of arms smuggling registered against him. He is also wanted in a case of Arms Act of PS Special Cell. Amit was also involved in a murder case registered in 2020 at the Civil Lines police station in Rewa. Further investigation is underway to arrest the main supplier.
