Entertainment: Superstar Mahesh Babu’s much-awaited next film with acclaimed director S.S. Rajamouli, currently titled Varanasi, is progressing rapidly as the team embarks on a massive shooting schedule.
The film’s unit recently completed a major schedule in Georgia. However, the ongoing tensions in the Middle East made it difficult for them to return to India. Many international flights typically transit through Dubai, and several airlines have temporarily suspended those routes, forcing the team to return via alternative routes, reportedly increasing logistics costs significantly.
Despite these difficulties, Rajamouli and his team remain committed to their grand vision. The makers are now planning an even larger schedule in Antarctica next month. According to reports, the team will first travel to South America and then travel to Antarctica on a specially arranged cruise ship with actors, technicians, extras, and filming equipment.
Shooting in Antarctica will be conducted under strict environmental regulations, as filming permits on the continent are rare. If completed as planned, Varanasi will become one of the few major productions to be shot in the icy region, known for its extremely sub-zero temperatures.
The film reportedly features a stellar cast, including Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, alongside Mahesh Babu. The project has generated tremendous buzz since Rajamouli unveiled its initial preview, raising expectations not only across India but also among international audiences.
