Innocent’s death due to negligence, contractor held responsible

Manendragarh. A three-year-old boy died after falling into a chamber (pit) built under the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Bharatpur development block of MCB district. In this incident, the gross negligence of the contractor has come to the fore. There is a lot of anger among the local people after this incident.

Let us tell you that the work of tap water scheme was being done in Jamthan of Bharatpur development block, where a 3-year-old child fell into a 5 feet pit made for the wall. Immediately after the incident, the family members were taking the child to the hospital for treatment, but the child died on the way. Relatives told about the incident that the child was playing and the slab was open. The child died after falling in it. As long as they could not see them, they ran, but due to the water being full, it was late to take out the innocent. The sarpanch of the village said that the jointer installed by the contractor in the tap water scheme was not packed properly by the contractor, due to which the child drowned in it and died.

In this matter, when talked to the assistant sub-engineer of the PHE department, he said that this incident is sad, because the wall chamber had a lid and water goes to the surrounding houses from there. They have two connections here, water was going in it, they needed more water. Wall’s chamber was disturbed and wall was molested, due to which this incident happened. Having said this, the assistant engineer shrugged his shoulders.
