Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah has targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. Referring to former PM Rajiv Gandhi’s speech in Parliament, he said that he had justified the Emergency. On one hand, his grandmother had imposed the Emergency on this country, while his father was justifying it. Amit Shah wrote, ‘Congress had crushed the Constitution many times to keep a family in power. Indira Gandhi had committed terrible atrocities on the people of this country during the Emergency.’
Amit Shah also shared a screenshot of Rajiv Gandhi’s speeches in his post. Further, he writes, ‘The prince of the Congress party has forgotten that his grandmother had imposed the Emergency on the country. And his father had expressed pride in this in the Lok Sabha on July 23, 1985. He said that there was nothing wrong in imposing the Emergency. Not only this, he said that if a Prime Minister feels that it is necessary to impose an emergency in the country and he is unable to do so in those circumstances, then he is not fit to become the PM.’
These dictatorial actions show that for Congress, nothing is more important than a family and its power. According to the document shared by Amit Shah, Rajiv Gandhi says in the Lok Sabha, ‘I want to say that if a government is unable to take decisions, then it is a threat to the country. When you were sitting here, we had a similar government. That is why you are afraid of talking about emergency. If emergency was imposed, then there was nothing wrong in it. When is it needed? It has also been mentioned in the Constitution.’
