Mumbai: Every Indian danced with joy last month as Indian cricket team lifted the cup. India won the finals of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ending the 11 year wait for the trophy. It defeated South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling match played at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.
On returning back, the players were welcomed with great pump and show by Indians at the Delhi Airport where the met the Prime Minister over breakfast. Then, they headed to Mumbai where a large victory procession was held to Wankhede Stadium. The sight was something to behold for the Cricket fans making it a massive celebration. The Indian Cricket team was announced a prize sum of 125 crores by BCCI as an appreciation to the teams victory under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
The cheque was handed over to the captain Rohit Sharma during the celebration at Wankhede Stadium. In a report published by Indian Express on Monday, a brief of the breakdown of the prize money has been provided. Every player of the 15-member team would receive 5crore each. The head coach Rahul Dravid along with other coaching staffs that includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip would be accepting an amount of 2.5crore rupees each as the Indian cricket team reward.
The members of the Selection Committee along with chief selector Ajit Agarkar will be receiving 1crore each. The four reserve players that went along that has Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh who travelled along to USA and West Indies would also be receiving 1crore each says report. All the other members that support team India along the way from the backroom like the three physiotherapists, three throwdown specialists, two masseurs, and the strength and conditioning coach have been entitled to receive Rs 2 Crore each as Indian cricket team reward.
All the members that travel in the 2024 edition are entitled to receive the reward amount. The players and other members of the squad have been informed regarding the same and BCCI has asked them to submit the respective invoices say sources.
