Raipur. Undisclosed assets worth crores of rupees have been found in IT investigation at the locations of former Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat and his close associates. Principal Commissioner and spokesperson of Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi, Surbhi Ahulwalia has given this information in the press release. During simultaneous raids at 25 locations, documents worth Rs 2.5 crore in cash and jewelery and undeclared property were seized.
Ahulwalia has said that the Income Tax Department had started the investigation campaign on January 31, 2024 at the locations of Amarjeet Bhagat, close associates and some government officials. One of Amarjeet’s close associates is in the real estate business. The Income Tax Department has written a letter to the Ambikapur Collector seeking details of the assets of 13 people.
The search operation covered more than 25 premises spread across Raipur, Surguja, Sitapur and Raigarh districts of Chhattisgarh. During the search operation, several incriminating documents, undeclared balance sheets and digital evidence have been found, which have been seized.
