Tehran: Iran has retaliated for the US submarine attack on its warship and sank it at sea. It attacked an American oil tanker. The Iranian attack caused a fire on the American oil tanker, Reuters news agency reported.
Meanwhile, the Iranian IRIS Dena warship participated in naval exercises in India. After that, it left for Iran. On Tuesday night, the Iranian warship was attacked by a US submarine in the Indian Ocean near the coast of Sri Lanka. The Iranian warship Dena was broken into two pieces after being attacked with a torpedo.
On the other hand, 87 sailors out of a crew of over 130 died. Some of the injured were rescued by the Sri Lankan Navy. Around 36 Iranian sailors are currently receiving treatment in Sri Lanka.
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the US would pay a heavy price for this action. Within hours, Iran announced that it had attacked the US tanker.
