In the scorching heat: Solar power production increases

Tamil Nadu: The Electricity Board has reported that solar power generation has increased due to the intense heat in Tamil Nadu.

While Tamil Nadu’s power generation sources generate approximately 19,000 to 20,000 MW of electricity daily, Tamil Nadu’s daily (24-hour) power consumption is also approximately 19,000 MW. During the summer season, this increases to 20,000 to 21,000 MW daily. More electricity is purchased from private sources. This year, due to the summer season, elections, and general elections, daily power consumption is expected to increase to 22,000 MW from April to June.

Because of this, the Electricity Board is trying to meet the demand. Meanwhile, Electricity Board officials have stated that solar power generation has also increased due to the increasing heat in Tamil Nadu. He said: Currently, the production capacity of solar power plants in Tamil Nadu is 12,352 MW and the production capacity of wind turbines is 10,000 MW. Since the onset of summer, the sun’s intensity has increased, so solar power production increased to 2,283 MW on March 24th and 2,316 MW on the 27th. Last year, solar power production peaked on August 20th, but this year the amount has increased. He said that solar power currently meets 13 percent of the state’s electricity demand.
