In-laws harassed daughter-in-law for not bringing car in dowry, case registered

An FIR has been registered against the in-laws, including the husband, a resident of Katghera, for assaulting and torturing her while threatening to kill her while demanding dowry after marriage. On the report of Chhaya Sharma, a resident of New Sharda Vihar of the city, an FIR has been registered against her husband and other in-laws in Manikpur Chowki under dowry harassment and other sections. According to the police, the victim Chhaya Sharma got married to Vikas Sharma, a resident of Katghora, about two and a half years ago.

A month later, her husband and in-laws started thrashing her demanding dowry, abusing her and threatening to kill her. She was asked to bring cash and a car in dowry. Even after having a child, the behavior of the in-laws along with the husband did not change, rather the in-laws threw Chhaya out of the house, she started living in her maternal home. A social meeting was also held, but no solution was found. On the report of Chhaya, counseling was first done at the Family Counseling Center, but the in-laws side was not ready. Finally fed up with the harassment, Chhaya wrote the report.
