IMD issues yellow warning for rain with thunderstorm and lightning in 18 districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued yellow warning for rain with thunderstorm and lightning in 18 districts of Odisha.
According to the Duty Officer Meteorological Centre of Bhubaneswar said that light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely to affect some parts of 18 districts of Odisha within next three hours.
Nuapada, Baragarah, Balangir, Sonpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarah, Sambalpur, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Khandamal, Boudh, Malkanagiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj are the 18 districts which are expected to witness the weather activities.
People of the above-mentioned districts have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly take precautions like moving to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike, said the Duty Officer of the Meteorological Centre.
This apart, the IMD issued a yellow warning for 21 districts of the state namely Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Balasore saying that light to moderate thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain would continue till 8.30 AM of April 4.
