IMD issues rain alert in UP

Uttar Pradesh: Monsoon has once again gained momentum. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain, thunder, lightning and strong winds in many districts of the state. According to Lucknow Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in different parts of the state along with thunderstorms and heavy rain at some places on Saturday. The Meteorological Department said that strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in many districts. Along with this, a warning of lightning has also been issued. The department has appealed to people not to step out of the house unnecessarily during bad weather and avoid standing near trees or open places. There is a possibility of cloudy sky and intermittent rain throughout the day in districts like Lucknow, Barabanki, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Fatehpur, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur and Basti of Central and Awadh region. There are chances of good rain in Purvanchal’s Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Mau, Ballia, Azamgarh, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Bhadohi. There has been a warning of heavy rain and lightning in some areas. According to meteorologists, with the increase in monsoon activity, the temperature will drop and people will get relief from heat and humidity. However, due to heavy rains, there is a possibility of waterlogging and traffic disruption at some places. The Meteorological Department has also appealed to the farmers to remain alert. People have been asked to be careful while working in the fields and keep an eye on the latest weather information. Rain is likely to continue in many parts of the state for the next two to three days.
