IMD issues orange warning for rain in Odisha, check details

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued orange warning for rain in Odisha for the next couple of days.

As predicted by the weather department, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind very likely to occur in different parts of the state in the afternoon/evening hours.

The IMD issued an orange alert saying that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Nabrangpur till 8.30 AM of June 6.

It also issued yellow warning for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Similarly, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati between 8.30 AM of June 6 and 8.30 AM of June 7. For this, the weatherman has issued orange warning.

It also sounded yellow warning over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh saying that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours in these districts.

Meanwhile, the evening bulletin of IMD revealed that eight places of Odisha record temperature above 41 degrees. They are:

Bhubaneswar: 41.1 degree Celsius
Angul: 41.1 degree Celsius
Jharsuguda: 41.0 degree Celsius
Sambalpur: 41.2 degree Celsius
Talcher: 41.0 degree Celsius
Bolangir: 41.0 degree Celsius
Nayagarh: 41.0 degree Celsius
Boud: 41.7 degree Celsius
