IMD issues dense fog in Odisha districts, SRC puts officials on alert

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar today issued a yellow warning for dense fog in several districts of Odisha.

Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Sundargarh, predicted the weather department till 8.30 AM of December 31.

Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Kandhamal and Kalahandi during this period of time, it added.

In view of the forecast of weatherman, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) issued an advisory for the police and transport officials of the respective districts to take necessary steps for controlled plying of vehicles on highways during dense fog to avoid any road accident.

The India Meteorological Department also predicted that dry weather will prevail over the districts of Odisha till January 6.

While forecasting about the temperature, the IMD said that fall in minimum temperature (night temperature) by 3-5 degree Celsius during next three days and no large change thereafter over the districts of Odisha.

As per the data of the IMD, the highest maximum temperature of 31.6°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 13.3°C was recorded at Dhenkenal in the plains of Odisha.
