IMD: Mumbai has been receiving heavy rainfall since Thursday morning, and the struggle for Mumbaikars is not expected to ease soon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more heavy rains in the next 2-3 days. The IMD issued an orange alert for Mumbai and predicted heavy to very heavy rains on July 19 and 20. Maharashtra is receiving heavy monsoon rains and the weather department has predicted heavy rains in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions in the next two days. According to the monsoon update from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai received 47.29 mm of rain in the 10 hours between 8 am and 6 pm on Thursday, while the eastern part of the metropolis received 30.56 mm and the western areas 38.18 mm.
Heavy rains in Karnataka
The IMD has also predicted heavy rains in southern interior and coastal Karnataka in the next five days. Bengaluru is likely to receive light to moderate rains this week. Heavy rains are expected in Telangana, Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from July 19 to 21. Also, the IMD has predicted heavy rains in Vidarbha and South Chhattisgarh for the next two days. Heavy rains are also expected in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat from July 20 to 22.
