Rajasthan. The houses of Hindus who came from Pakistan living in Amar Sagar area, about 4 km from Jaisalmer district headquarters, were demolished following the orders of Collector Tina Dabi. Considering more than 50 kutcha houses as encroachments, UIT razed them to the ground with the help of bulldozers and JCBs. Due to this action, more than 150 women, men and children have now come under the open sky. According to the administration, the displaced were living by building illegal houses on the banks of the Amar Sagar pond, due to which the inflow of water to the pond was stopped. Along with this, this land is also being said to be very valuable.
In fact, after being displaced due to religious persecution in Pakistan, in Amar Sagar Gram Panchayat area, about 4 km from Jaisalmer district headquarters, many Hindu families had started living in kutcha huts on UIT land. One by one, more than 30 displaced families had made their abode here. The UIT had sought help from the district administration to vacate the land worth crores, after which the land was made encroachment free two months ago. Along with this, orders were issued to vacate the displaced persons.
On Tuesday, the district administration team along with the police force reached Amar Sagar and demolished more than 50 kutcha houses present here. Hindus who came to India after being displaced from Pakistan strongly opposed this action of the administration. But, the administration did not listen to him. After this people went around saving their belongings. Kishanraj Bhil, who came to India after being displaced from Pakistan, says that we were evicted from Pakistan as well and now our houses have been demolished here too. Our Kalla Kresar Bhil settlement was completely destroyed. They had come to India after getting ruined from Pakistan, now they were ruined here too.
Kishanraj Bhil says that we had demanded our rehabilitation. He had kept his demand during the public hearing as well. However, this did not happen. On Monday evening, the UTI had given notice to vacate the colony and then action was taken to remove the encroachment, but nothing has been done for the rehabilitation of us.
