While Hyundai Motor is gearing up to bring the Facelift version of the Alcazar to India sometime this year that is 2024, the sales of the ongoing Alcazar has surpassed the mark of 75,506 units for the first time since its launch in the country three years ago on June 18, 2021.
The three-row Alcazar midsize SUV is based on the company’s best-selling product, the Creta. It comes with similar features as the Creta and is available in six or seven seats.
According to the sales report, the three-row Alcazar midsize SUV has sold a total of 1,02,682 units, comprising 75,506 units in the domestic market and 27,176 units as exports from India. The domestic manufacturing plant of Honda in Sriperumbudur, Chennai, has cumulatively produced 1,03,243 units.
The sale of Alcazar picked up pace in FY2023 with a total of 26,696 units sold in India. The sales have increased by up to 3.1 percent in comparison to last year. Meanwhile, it produced 38,394 units of Alcazar (up 34 percent YoY), and 11,334 units exported (up 292 percent YoY).
However, the domestic market sales reduced by 22 percent to 20,753 units in the next fiscal (FY2024). Exports also dropped by 4.49 percent to 10,825 units. This lead to lower number of production by 17 percent to 31,873 units.
Wholesales in the first two months of FY2025 in India are also down: the 2,163 units in April-May 2024 are down 52 percent YoY (April-May 2023: 4,480 units). However, exports have increased 45 percent to 2,130 units YoY. It exported 1,466 units in April-May 2023.
Hyundai Alcazar facelift
Hyundai was originally slated to launch the Alcazar facelift by mid-2024, possibly, on the Alcazar’s third anniversary. However, the launch of the updated Alcazar, which has been snapped testing on Indian roads, has been deferred by a few months to around September-October 2024, just ahead of the festival season.
It will rival the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus.
