Hyderabad: Wife murdered, body chopped into pieces, pieces cooked in pressure cooker

Hyderabad: In a gruesome incident, a former soldier allegedly killed his wife, chopped her body into pieces and cooked it in a pressure cooker and dumped it in a lake at Jillelguda in Meerpet in the city. Full details of the crime, which came to light on Wednesday, are yet to be revealed. According to police, Guru Murthy (45), a native of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, served in the Army for some time and currently works as an outsourced security guard with the DRDO in Kanchanbagh. He lived in a rented house in New Venkateswara Nagar Colony in Meerpet with his wife Venkata Madhavi (35) and two children.

According to information available, the couple had frequent quarrels for the past several days. Madhavi went missing on January 18 and Murthy informed his family members who lodged a missing person complaint with the Meerpet police. Murthy went to the police station to lodge the complaint along with his in-laws and pretended not to know anything about his wife’s whereabouts. He also helped the police in searching for his wife. However, based on suspicion, the police detained Murthy for questioning and during the interrogation, he confessed to the murder. Meerpet police visited the spot and investigated. A case of murder has been registered and investigation has been started. Murthy has been arrested.
