Hyderabad: Two drug smuggling gangs busted, 164 kg marijuana seized
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force busted two gangs allegedly involved in drug smuggling and seized 164 kg of ganja, cars, mobile phones and other items from them. In the first case, police nabbed three interstate drug peddlers at Paramount Colony in Tolichowki, Hyderabad. The arrested persons have been identified as Dharavath Ravi (40), a resident of Kamareddy, and Syed Bahadur (28) and Anand Ramji Kadam (35), both residents of Nanded. “Ravi went to Odisha where he bought 32 packets of ganja weighing around 100 kg from a person named Govind,” said DCP Task Force Rashmi Perumal. “Ravi, Bahadur and Anand loaded the ganja in a Hyundai Accent car and came to Hyderabad. Police caught them at Paramount Colony,” Perumal said.
A case has been registered against the trio at Humayunnagar police station. The three have been arrested earlier in similar cases in Telangana and other states. In the second case, the task force arrested Sheikh Parvez (42), a resident of Natrajanagar, Abdul Rauf alias Rauf (30), a resident of Farooqnagar Falaknuma and Mohammad Anwar (33), a resident of Kishanbagh. Police seized 64 kg of ganja, two cars, a motorcycle and three mobile phones from them. According to police, Parvez was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in a ganja case and sent to Rajahmundry jail, where he met Deepak, a drug peddler hailing from Odisha. DCP Task Force said, “After being released from jail, Parvez contacted Deepak and Deepak was supplying ganja to Hyderabad through RTC buses through his associates. Parvez was on his way to dispose of the ganja consignment when the police caught him.” Police also arrested two other associates of Parvez. All of them have been arrested earlier in similar cases.
