Hyderabad: TSSPDCL Chairman asks officials to avoid power cuts

Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Ali Farooqui has directed officials to take measures to meet the demand during Rabi and upcoming summer season. Farooqui reviewed the power situation with senior SPDCL officials on Friday and asked them to take steps to avoid unscheduled power cuts and rectify the cuts at the earliest. He said that a plan should be prepared to complete the maintenance works of 11 KV, 33 KV feeders and sub-stations in a short time. Stating that energy audit of all 11 KV feeders should be conducted, the CMD said that the welfare of customers should be given top priority and problems faced by them should be resolved immediately. “If there is any discrepancy between the electricity supplied and billing, the services in that category should be thoroughly checked. Accurate bills for electricity usage should be issued. Billing related complaints should be resolved immediately. Unauthorized use of electricity should be avoided to reduce power losses,” he suggested. He said last year a maximum demand of 9,860 MW was recorded in SPDCL’s jurisdiction and a maximum demand of 15,497 MW was recorded in the state. He said, “There is a possibility that this time also the same level of demand will be recorded.” Farooqui said the Greater Hyderabad region had recorded a maximum demand of 3,756 MW last year and consumed about 79.33 million units, and this year too, it was likely to record a maximum demand of 4,000 MW and consumption of 83-85 MUs. .
