Hyderabad: Triveni Music and Dance Festival begins in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Triveni, a three-day long festival of music and dance, began on Friday at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad’s Public Garden. The festival is organized by Surmandal in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Canara Bank. On the inauguration day, the sitar and santoor recitals were conducted by Shruti Katkuri and Sreeja Katkuri and accompanied by Vijay Kumar Panchal on the tabla. After this, Pandit Yogesh Samsiji, Taufeeq Kuresian in Djembe, Satish Patri in Mridangam and Tanmay Devchake in Armonio played the rhythm. “The festival was conceived by our late father Mohan Hemmadi in the memory of our late mother Anuradha. Today we are organizing it as a loving remembrance of our late father Anuradha Hemmadi and Mohan Hemmadi”, said Siddharth, son of Mohan Hemmadi. The late Ustad Alka Rakha Qureshi, a renowned Indian tabla interpreter who specialized in classical Indian music, was honored with an award for his career which was presented to his son Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, who later studied music and Performed in the dance festival.
