Hyderabad: The western region of the city will soon have a new attraction as Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC) plans to build a “T Square” at Raidurgam. The “T-Square” will be a place where people can freely gather throughout the day. The open plaza will host a variety of events, ranging from impromptu concerts to organised events. The plaza will be a destination for a variety of activities catering to the needs of the locals. The HITEC City and Financial District area located in the western region of the city are popularly known as Cyberabad. It is home to over 100 large IT, ITeS and BFSI global companies and employs around 1 million people. Hyderabad Knowledge City developed at Raidurgam is a new landmark in Cyberabad. It is developed in an area spread over 30 acres, with over seven million square feet of IGBC Platinum rated IT park.
The area is well-equipped with public transport by TGRTC and Hyderabad Metro Rail (Raidurg Station). However, there is not much provision for public spaces and amenities for the local people, especially the software workers and the youth. Taking all these factors into consideration, TGIIC now intends to build an iconic space, which will serve as a multi-functional plaza. To this effect, TGIIC is inviting architects cum transaction consultants to take up the project. The agencies will have to coordinate with TGIIC to develop the T Square as a major tourist destination with vibrant urban spaces, entertainment hub, collaboration zone and commercial square and propose concept plans accordingly. They will have to suggest measures for optimal project structures and assist TGIIC in finalizing the suitable structure for project development and other aspects.
