Hyderabad: 15-year-old Hasini Bhattiprolu, who hails from a Telugu family living in San Diego, California, USA, gave her first Carnatic music performance in Hyderabad on Sunday. Hasini’s musical journey has been greatly influenced by her grandmother Rajeswari Chakkilam. Under the guidance of renowned gurus like Vidwan Dr. C M Venkatachalam, H N Bhaskar and R K Sriramkumar, Hasini has been preserving and carrying forward the rich traditions of Carnatic music. A 10th grade high school student, Hasini is also an active member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and Madrigals Honors Choir Program at her school. She has received the prestigious Keith Heldman Music Award from LJCDS and considers it a great privilege to be mentored in Western and World Music by Caroline Baker.
Hasini has participated in many prestigious forums, including the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Silicon Andhra Music Festival, North American Telugu Association and Bay Area Telugu Association competitions, and has won several awards. Haasini is an ambassador for promoting and reciting the Bhagavatam verses of Bammera Pothana in Telugu. She received guidance from Parthasarathy Nemani in this endeavour and encouragement from Mallick Puccha through the iBAM organisation. She has a Distinguished Certificate in Carnatic Music from the SAMPADA programme of Silicon Andhra University. The concert, held in Hyderabad, was attended by her grandfather and former chairman of Signiti Technologies C V Subrahmanyam, her grandmother Rajeswari Chakkilam, her parents Padmaja and Pavan Battiprolu and her grandfather Bhattiprolu Hanumantha Rao, among others.
