Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police held a coordination meeting with representatives of residential welfare associations from the limits of 11 police stations of North Zone to understand the various concerns of the residents regarding policing and to give some instructions from the security point of view. The meeting was held by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of North Zone, S Rashmi Perumal with all the SHOs and around 100 representatives of RWAs from North Zone. During the meeting, the representatives expressed their concerns on various issues such as lack of street lights, CCTV cameras, driving by minors, unauthorised/irregular parking on roads blocking free passage, reckless driving, menace of street dogs, garbage dumping near residential colonies, suspicious activities of vagrants, encroachment of roads/footpaths by street vendors, etc.
These concerns were discussed in detail and the North Zone police assured them that necessary action would be taken on their complaints as per law. Besides, instructions related to safety of citizens, installation of CCTVs in colony premises and precautionary measures against house theft were discussed. Apart from seeking cooperation, RWAs were directed to be vigilant about the safety of senior citizens, especially in places where they are living alone and taking hired help. Besides, fire safety, electrical equipment audit, fire drills, need for CCTV coverage, neighbourhood awareness and emergency response were also discussed in detail. Besides, it was decided to form a group consisting of nodal officers from each RWA, which will ensure easy dissemination of important information to all RWAs and help resolve any issues immediately.
