Hyderabad: In the betting app case involving popular Tollywood actors and social media influencers, Miyapur police have added 19 betting app owners to the list of suspects. The police have issued notices to the app owners while starting the investigation. If needed, notices will also be issued to the actors and influencers. Miyapur police recently booked 25 film actors and social media influencers who own several popular apps for promoting their apps. Miyapur police, which registered the case, submitted a memorandum to the court regarding this development.
The investigation is focused on gathering evidence about the involvement of the actors, and the police are finalising procedures to summon the app organisers for alleged violations under the Telangana Gaming Act. Notices were issued to them and they conducted further investigation. These applications are promoted by celebrities and social media influencers through social media and pop-up advertisements by accepting huge sums of money as commission and remuneration. As part of the investigation, cases have already been registered against 25 people including several film personalities and social media influencers such as Daggubati Rana, Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj for allegedly promoting illegal betting apps.
