Hyderabad: Marijuana, hashish worth Rs 70,000 seized

Hyderabad: The team of Task Force (South-East) along with Monda Market police nabbed a drug peddler and a consumer on Market Street on Friday night and seized 1.1 kg marijuana and 20 gm hashish from them, worth Rs 70,000. Those arrested include Nilesh Sharma, a drug peddler who hails from Madhya Pradesh and runs a tea stall on Market Street. The drug consumer is Mohammed Aqib, a centering worker from Bowenpally. The main drug peddlers Sameer and Arbaaz are absconding.

According to the police, Nilesh, whose tea business did not seem to be very profitable considering his expenses, decided to sell drugs and make easy money. One of his customers Sameer told him that there was a good demand for marijuana in the Monda Market area. He shared Arbaaz’s contact details. “He then hatched a plan to sell marijuana at his tea shop. He bought marijuana from Arbaaz from Parbani in Maharashtra and smuggled it to Hyderabad and sold it to local consumers, most of whom were his clients,” the police official said. In March, he bought around 1.5 kg of marijuana and sold some and hid the rest in his tea shop. Based on information, the shop was raided and the two were arrested.
