Hyderabad: KTR criticises Telangana government over communal violence in Medak

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Sunday, June 16, criticised the Congress-led Telangana government over the communal violence in Medak. “There was no communal violence in Telangana for the last 9.5 years when KCR garu was in power and now with the Congress government there is neither any law nor order. It is really shameful that the peaceful town of Medak, where there was never any communal activity earlier, has now turned into a mess,” he said on X. Clashes broke out between two communities over alleged illegal transportation of cows on Saturday, June 15, and Section 144 was imposed near Ramdas Chowrasta in Medak district.

Notably, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which prohibits the gathering of four or more people in an area, is usually imposed to avoid any protests that may lead to violence and riots. Medak Superintendent of Police B Bala Swamy said, “The police have imposed Section 144 in the area and the situation is under control now.” The senior police official said some people have already been detained and a case has been registered against both the parties and investigation is underway and the situation is under control at the moment. According to him, the scuffle started when Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leaders stopped the transportation of cows and staged a protest instead of lodging a complaint. “Two people were injured in the clash. After this, both the parties staged a protest on the road. The hospital where the injured were being treated was also attacked,” Swamy said.
