Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda area of LB Nagar along with Meerpet police on Friday busted an interstate drug trafficking gang and arrested four persons.
The gang smuggled heroin and MDMA (known as Ecstasy or Molly) from Rajasthan to Hyderabad and sold it to consumers. Officers seized 150.3 grams of heroin, 32.1 grams of the drug MDMA, cash and other paraphernalia.
Those arrested include Narendra Bishnoi (20), Praveen Bishnoi (23), Hema Ram (18) and P. Devasi (31), residents of Meerpet and natives of Rajasthan. Major ambulatory vendors and fountains of Rajasthan are both in use.
According to the police, the gang members are close friends and are addicted to drugs. Initially, he purchased medicines for his own consumption, but eventually started selling them to other consumers due to lack of easy money.
“They came in contact with a drug smuggler in Rajasthan and started acquiring heroin at low prices, between Rs 5,000 to 6,000 per gram and MDMA between Rs 2,000 to 4,000 per gram. They sold it to other consumers they came in contact with for Rs 10,000 and Rs 12,000”, said Rachakonda Police Commissioner G.Sudheer Babu.
He said the group used to smuggle drugs from Rajasthan to Hyderabad by hiding them in clothes and traveling in private buses.
Following the alert, police arrested the band at Almasguda in Meerpet and seized the drugs.
Key drug traffickers and sources were not available for investigation. Efforts are being made to nab them and identify other consumers.
